I've been delving back into my own worlds lately, which made me beg the question: How does one learn about an unfamiliar, alien world without getting lost? Say I would take you on a tour of my universe. What would you expect me to show you first so you had a basis for understanding?

1: Journals/wordy posts with a simple sketch (or two). I would describe in factual detail the unique worlds and its workings. Artwork of it would come later.

2: Deviations with brief summaries. Story-like descriptions would come much later to explain what is in the artwork.

3: Something else. Have you seen an effective method of a universe/story introduction that might be helpful?
