Spirit Animals - The Moon

These are two of my spirit animals, the white mare and the black stallion. This couple despised each other initially, but thanks to my never-ending journey of self discovery, they now run in tandem and symbolize my whole. I wanted to create something in their image to keep near me, and by finding the right breeds of model horses at hobby stores and modifying them, I keep them on my desk where I can always see them. 
I stripped the paint from Safari LTD's mustang mare, spray painted her white, and added the details afterward. I only revised Schleich's Fresian stallion by painting his horseshoes black to get rid of them, and added a glaze to his mane, tail, and hooves.

The white mare I call Guidance, but her true name, like the stallion's, remains unknown. Wild and free like a proper mustang, she is warm, friendly, and outgoing, and aids me to find the right path and to stay true to myself. She's very protective of her herd (me and my individual parts), and can become aggressive when someone or something threatens them. Her bright white coat symbolizes my creative potential, like a blank page. Her essence is much like a luminescent fog or mist; airy, light, and like wind, and like it could be out of a fairy tale.

The black stallion I call Depth, since it summarizes his realm. He is what may be called the "shadow self," the part of us human beings that we shun away for being "less than acceptable." But by accepting and loving him, he was able to reach his potential and show me things I never could have seen before. He is the polar opposite to the white mare, being heavy, cold, introverted, and his essence is like water; in fact, his fur is always dripping with the watery substance of his realm. He is not any more or less aggressive than Guidance, but just as protective of his herd.

Together, being loved by each other, they symbolize my wholeness. Their unity is also a reflection of the moon, as the full moon always has a dark side we never see.
